It's
time for the annual Transportation Education Symposium, hosted by the
California Transportation Foundation. This year, it's November 5 and 6
at the Chaminade Conference Center in Santa Cruz. The symposium
"bring[s] together the best and brightest transportation students with
the highest level professionals in the field", in an atmosphere that is
highly interactive and participative, but relaxed and fun.
Also this year, the 35 students chosen statewide to participate in this
symposium will be eligible for $6000 in scholarship funds! Learn more about the California Transportation Foundation here.
We are being asked to nominate up to three "bright, articulate" junior
or senior "civil engineering or planning" students (interpret
that broadly as any upper division student with an expressed interest
in transportation). The third student is wait-listed, but "most years
we are able to invite several students from the wait list to attend".
THE SYMPOSIUM IS FREE (REGISTRATION, ROOM, AND MEALS), AND ITS-DAVIS
WILL PAY THE TRAVEL EXPENSES. Students have gone every year for the
past several years and they invariably come back excited about the
experience.
They're asking you to help circulate notice of this opportunity to
relevant undergrads -- even if you're not teaching a transportation
class, some students in your undergrad classes might be interested in
transportation... Anyone who wants to be nominated should e-mail Patricia L. Mokhtarian at plmokhtarian@ucdavis.edu
