Sierra Nevada College and the Tahoe Environmental Research Center announce their schedule for screenings from September through November 2009 at this Film Festival.

o Documentary on the consequences of water privatization
o Irena Salina's award-winning documentary investigation into what experts label the most important political and environmental issue of the 21st Century - The World Water Crisis.

OCTOBER 14, 2009: Blue Gold: World Water Wars
o Hosted by Kate Berry, University of Nevada, Reno Professor
o In every corner of the globe, we are polluting, diverting, pumping, and wasting our limited supply of fresh water at an expediential level as population and technology grows. The rampant overdevelopment of agriculture, housing and
industry increase the demands for fresh water well beyond the finite supply, resulting in the desertification of the earth.
o A line is crossed as water becomes a commodity. Will we survive?

OCTOBER 28, 2009: Poisoned Waters (PBS special)
o A far-reaching investigation into America’s great waterways. They are in peril. There’s a new wave of pollution that’s killing fish, causing mutations in frogs – and threatening human health.

NOVEMBER 11, 2009: Student Association for International Water Issues
Presentation and Panel Discussion
o The Student Association for International Water Issues, or SAIWI (pronounced "Say-wee") is a student organization at the University of Nevada, Reno, working to develop an understanding of global water issues and promote community empowerment through education and water resource development.
