by Ingrid Lagos last modified May 18, 2009 10:47 AM

Sacramento Housing AllianceThe Coalition on Regional Equity (CORE) formed in 2007 to help make the Sacramento region more sustainable, healthy, and equitable.

Spearheaded by the Sacramento Housing Alliance, the Environmental Council of Sacramento and Legal Services of Northern California, CORE is funded by the California Endowment. Current membership includes (among others) affordable housing advocates and developers, transportation advocates and providers, organized labor, the faith community, and ethnic and age-related organizations.

CORE’s objectives:

  • Create and maintain diverse communities that have fair access to jobs, schools, transportation, and quality housing;
  • Design neighborhoods to be walkable and accessible to all;
  • Ensure investment in existing communities and infrastructure;
  • Preserve working farms and ranches;
  • Guarantee communities have clean air, water and fresh food options.
