2019 Bradshaw Scholar
Larissa Saco is a first-year doctoral student in the Department of Sociology and an instructional design GSR for Academic Technology Services at UC Davis. Her scholarly interests are in cultural sociology, social stratification, educational inequality, and violent victimization. Larissa’s research questions investigate the mechanisms that shape how children, youth, and their families cope with and escape vulnerable situations, and how cultural beliefs influence the creation of social policies and programs designed to help them. Prior to graduate school, she earned a B.A. in sociology from Occidental College and worked as a research assistant on K-12 program evaluations for MDRC. Larissa aspires to become a sociology professor with a record of rigorous, policy-relevant, and community-engaged research after graduating with her doctorate from UC Davis.
