It is hard to believe that it has been ten years since the launch of the Center for Regional Change. This decade has certainly been a time of tremendous change within the CRC, the campus, and the world as a whole. There is much to celebrate, and there are many social, political, economic, and environmental challenges that make our work all the more crucial.

Keeping Our Promise: A Guide to Evaluation in Sacramento's Promise Zone

In April 2015, Sacramento received the federal Promise Zone designation awarded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), which created a 10-year partnership between federal, state, and local agencies to address the needs of distressed communities. This places the City of Sacramento among 22 jurisdictions nationwide awarded the federal Promise Zone designation.

Capitalizing Environmental Justice in the Sacramento Region

"Capitalizing Environmental Justice in the Sacramento Region" assesses the dire conditions of environmental injustice confronting low-income communities and communities of color in California's Capital Region. However, local residents and regional leaders have begun to develop a cohesive framework for action to improve conditions in their communities, and to contribute to the region's burgeoning EJ movement. This report is rooted in a long-time collaboration between the CRC and the Coalition on Regional Equity (CORE), and several of CORE's primary organizational members.

CEVA-San Joaquin Valley

The UC Davis Center for Regional Change has released a path-breaking report, “Land of Risk/ Land of Opportunity” documenting the high levels of environmental and social risks confronting San Joaquin Valley residents. The report uses an innovative new tool, called the Cumulative Environmental Vulnerabilities Assessment (CEVA), to identify the locations and populations within the Valley that are at greatest risk and that require immediate protection.

SCORECARD

The Sacramento Coalition on Regional Equity Collaborative Assessment of Regional Development (SCORECARD) Baseline Regional Report provided an overview of levels and patterns of opportunity and disparity in the region. The study was conducted in 2010.
