Bio

My name is Alexandria Long (she/her) and I am a 4th year majoring in Neurobiology,
Physiology, and Behavior with a Public Health Sciences minor at UC Davis. I aspire to become a
physician with goals of being culturally humble, practicing global healthcare techniques, and
exploring how medicine impacts public health. My activities include volunteering at the Hmong
Lifting Underserved Barriers (HLUB) Clinic, working as an undergraduate clinical research
assistant at UC Davis Health, and participating in different mentorship programs. During my free
time, I like to play the piano and visit boba cafes. My favorite drink to order is jasmine green
milk tea with lychee jelly. Additionally, I have an interest in exploring nature and would like to
try ice skating.
At HLUB Clinic, I advocate for the health of the under-resourced Asian population. This
year, I am proud to put forward a community project to understand the health barriers of the
Hmong community residing in the Greater Sacramento area. To achieve this, participants can
inform us of their perspectives on healthcare, its accessibility, and education, through a health
questionnaire (in English and Hmong). By understanding their views, we can determine how to
improve the patient quality and outreach abilities of our clinic to meet their needs. This project
will grant us the opportunity to get an accurate understanding of their perspectives and
hesitations – reducing the health disparities that they are currently facing.
