Naomi Cytron joined the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco’s Community Development department in 2005.  In her current role as Regional Manager for Northern California, she works with a range of non-profit, public, and private sector partners to advance systems-level solutions for challenges facing low-income communities. Her current portfolio is focused on gentrification and displacement, affordable housing finance, the social determinants of health, and SPARCC, a three-year initiative that aims to build the capacity of local leaders to shape major regional investments so that they lead to equitable and healthy opportunities for everyone (www.sparcchub.org).

In Naomi’s previous role as Senior Research Associate, her research and writing focused on concentrated poverty, regional equity, and data infrastructure. These research interests led to a collaboration with the Urban Institute to produce and edit What Counts: Harnessing Data for America’s Communities (http://www.whatcountsforamerica.org/), a volume of essays exploring the opportunities and challenges of using data to assess and strengthen community development strategies.

Prior to joining the Fed, Naomi worked as a consultant on affordable housing finance and managed a fair housing testing program. She has a master’s degree in city and regional planning from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a bachelor’s degree in biology from Macalester College.
