CRC Donors Supporting the Ted Bradshaw Engaged Student Scholars Program
The CRC was the brainchild of the late Ted Bradshaw, colleague, teacher, mentor, and friend, to a generation of community development scholars and practitioners.  The CRC is one of his last legacies at UC Davis and we are inspired everyday by his example.  To honor Ted's memory and his values on student mentoring and empowerment, Community Development master's program alumna, Kamaljeet Singh-Khaira and her husband Ravi Khaira, have made a generous gift to support the Ted Bradshaw Engaged Student Scholars Program.

"The education, connections, and mentorship that Ted provided while I was in graduate school at UC Davis have given me such breadth and depth in the field of community development -- and further prepared me for critical leadership roles in the non-profit/public service sector.  Ravi and I feel so fortunate to be able to support rising community developers in creating a more just, healthy, and equitable place for all Californians, and gain practical skills in the field.  I can just picture Ted smiling his wonderful, warm smile, as I say this!"

- Kamaljeet Singh-Khaira

The program selects highly-qualified undergraduate and graduate students each year to work with CRC-affiliated faculty and professional staff on applied and policy-oriented research projects.  Students receive mentoring and professional development experiences and opportunities to contribute to high-impact regional change projects. Recent projects have included the development of a documentary about water justice, a curriculum to train youth to use mapping and data for community empowerment and change, a report on state affordable housing policies, and articles on urban gardening and environmental justice.

With Kamaljeet and Ravi's gift, the CRC will be able to provide stipends and professional development activities for the student scholars.  We are deeply grateful to Kamaljeet and Ravi for their support of the CRC and our mission to empower the next generation of regional change makers.

Please consider joining Kamaljeet and Ravi by including the CRC in your philanthropy this year.  Your tax-deductible gift will support the CRC's action research on cutting edge issues such as affordable housing, environmental justice, youth health and well-being, and rural community development.
