Putting Youth on the Map

Putting Youth on the Map (PYOM) is a powerful information resource for youth and adults working to ensure youth well-being in California. 

Housed at the UC Davis Center for Regional Change, the PYOM website provides interactive maps that combine multiple measures to enable holistic analyses of youth well-being and vulnerability. Users can compare and analyze data by sex, race and ethnicity, and consult data maps on income level, suspension/truancy, chronic absence, transportation access, food access, and more. PYOM also features curricula, strategies, and user stories to help youth and community advocates use data maps, cultivate critical data literacy, and map local community knowledge. It is designed to help California youth and adults creatively improve conditions for young people by making youth data matter.

Everyone—youth and adult advocates, service providers, private foundations, public agencies and policy-makers—can use PYOM to identify leverage points for improving opportunity, develop multi-sector and multi-issue collaborations, strategically allocate resources, and hold themselves accountable for collectively improving conditions.

PYOM has been developed with generous support from The California Endowment, Sierra Health Foundation, UC Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources, and the Center for Collaborative Research for an Equitable California.
