National Zoning Atlas

The Center for Regional Change at UC Davis is collaborating with the UC-Berkeley Othering and Belonging Institute on the creation of the California Zoning Atlas. This project is part of the National Zoning Atlas effort, a collaborative of researchers digitizing, demystifying, & democratizing ~30,000 U.S. zoning codes. Why focus on zoning? Zoning laws are created by local governments and decide much of what can be built across the nation, from multi-family housing to equitable access to parkland. To help inform community involvement in zoning code reform, the National Zoning Atlas aims to help people understand what zoning codes say, because they have a tremendous impact on our economy, on the environment, and on our society.
